Volunteer professionals can now be recruited for board positions on nonprofit organizations that you’ve worked with on projects and calls.

Benefits/ Why Should I Join a Nonprofit Board?

  • Ability to connect with Organizations beyond projects and calls

  • Gain experience on nonprofit boards (professional development, resume building, leadership skills)

    Functionality:

  1. You can indicate that you are interested in being recruited for boards by toggling it "on" in your settings (similar to how you can toggle "on" if you are available to volunteer).

    1. If you're unavailable to be recruited at this time, you can simply toggle this feature off. If ever and whenever you're ready, the option will be available to to turn back on!

  2. Once you've toggled "on" the feature, you can connect with Organizations as normal through projects and calls.

    1. If a Nonprofit Organization you’ve worked with is also interested in finding board members, they will have the ability to send an invite to you to discuss a board recruitment.

Note: Only Volunteers and Organizations who both have the toggle on and have worked together (at least started a project) will be able to connect. The Organization always initiates and makes the initial request.

  3. The board recruitment request will be sent to your messenger and the you can say whether or not you're interested.

    1. We will send an automated message to the Organization letting them know of your decision either way.

    2. The messaging portal remains open in either case

  4. You can continue to discuss the position through the messenger to learn more about expectations and requirements.

  5. 30 days after the initial invite we will follow- up with another message in the messenger asking if you've both connected.

    1. You can let us know whether you've joined the board, decided not to join the board, or if you have not yet decided.
