What are language requirements?

Volunteer Managers can now optionally add a language proficiency requirement to any project type. For translation projects, language proficiency will be required, so you will always see the specific language listed on these projects.

What does this mean for you as the volunteer?

You will need to meet language proficiency requirements in order to apply to some projects. Instead of using your valuable time to click through translation projects to find what you're looking for, you’ll be able to more easily find translation projects that align with your language skills.

How to find language proficiency requirements

You will see the language proficiency requirement on both the project search page and when applying for a project.

Translation projects will have a different title based on the specified language being requested for translation, as shown below.

When you click on the project, you will see the details and requirements volunteers must meet to apply.

When filling out your application, you will be prompted to confirm that you have the necessary language proficiency.

After submitting your application, the organization will contact you if they would like to schedule an interview.
